Confirming that a country hotel can still feel like a house with a true home-from-home feel. Heckfield Place has been described as ‘the most ambitious countryside retreat to open outside of London in decades’, and is also the recent winner of the Sunday Times Hotel of the Year award with features in Tatler, Conde Nast Traveller, Evening Standard and Sheerluxe.

We currently have the pleasure of planning an exclusive summer birthday party, with a full weekend takeover of the Grade II listed parkland of Heckfield Place.

The elegantly understated 45-bedroom hotel is surrounded with magnificent trees, woodland walks, lakes and fountains. There’s a beautiful walled garden too, a bothy spa and beyond the garden boundary a farm and bio-dynamic market garden which supplies the hotel kitchen.

The food served in the hotel’s two restaurants, Marle and Hearth, has been envisioned and created by award winning Michelin star chef, Skye Gyngell of Spring restaurant to reflect similar organic and bio-dynamic principles. The Marle restaurant is open to all from both residents of Heckfield and outside guests. While the open fire cooking focused Hearth is only open to hotel guests.

The impeccable interiors have been designed by Ben Thompson. Mr. Thompson trained under Ilse Crawford and worked alongside her on the beautiful Ett Hem hotel in Stockholm, before taking on solo the challenge of Heckfield. He has done an incredible job of restoring the 18th-century Georgian family home from its classic origin and blended it exquisitely into the 400 acres of isolated Hampshire countryside.

He manages to make the interior both chic and informal, yet sophisticated and homely, modern whilst being surprisingly rustic. Antiques and well-worn Persian rugs sit well alongside contemporary fixtures and fittings. The colour palette is a mix of dark and daring and also warm neutral tones. Pattern and texture within curtains, cushions, headboards and wallcoverings all contributing to the atmosphere of each space.

With strong wellness credentials the hotel uses naturally derived, nutrient-rich products from Heckfield’s own Wildsmith Skin beauty range in all of it’s bedrooms and the Little Bothy spa. You won’t find a gym at Heckfield, instead guests can enjoy personal training sessions, yoga or pilates by cult wellness brand Bodyism.

Heckfield is surrounded by magical grounds, lakes, woodlands and a walled garden, all of which create incredible backdrops for your event.

EVENT SPACES AT HECKFIELD PLACE

As a wedding and event space Heckfield Place has numerous options. For over 30 guests the venue is hired on an exclusive basis either for a 3 night stay over a weekend or a 2 night stay midweek.

The largest space, the Assembly Room is a widely adaptable space with moveable walls and views out onto the expansive gardens. This adjoins The Card Room which is perfect for reception drinks.

The Dining Room features a long communal table, antique furniture and soft lighting, as well as an incredible floral chandelier by resident florist Kitten Grayson, which is changed seasonally. Making it perfect for an exquisite private dining experience and a great option for a rehearsal dinner.

The Sun House, filled with the estate’s plants and flowers, within the Walled Gardens is another versatile and unique space, perfect for al-fresco dining or botanically themed activities for guests to enjoy.

The Hearth restaurant mentioned previously is set in the Old Stables with the building’s character shining through, making it one of the most relaxed and homely gathering spaces.

The cinematic Screening Room is fitted with state-of-the-art sound, luxurious seating and is situated adjacent to The Cellar bar. Perfect for launches, lectures and film nights. Or maybe give your nearest and dearest a sneak peak of your wedding film the day after your celebrations.

The Long Room is Heckfield’s most spectacular apartment, with sitting and dining room, fitted kitchen, private terrace and balcony with breath taking views of the surrounding estate. This space is the ultimate party pad for an intimate party or private dining experience.

Within the house itself are several cosy sitting rooms with magnificent views over the parklands and a subtle inviting colour palette of blush rose, forest green and grey. Whilst the Moon bar adds a little more drama with it’s dark grey walls and glitterballs, serving handcrafted cocktails inspired by lunar phases.
