Dream Destinations: Luxury Mini-Moon Planning
Wedding Planning
It can feel like planning a wedding AND an amazing honeymoon adventure all at once is just a step too far. With so much pressure on getting everything right and having the most immense experience from both then no wonder many couples nowadays opt for a mini-moon, saving the big honeymoon adventure for when funds and brain-capacity have recovered.
I’m totally on-board with the idea of the mini-moon, particularly if it’s an all-out luxe and relaxing experience. What more could you want after all that planning? Lately I’ve also got a little wanderlust myself, it’s 3 months since we got back from our fabulous Italy trip and I am truly itching to get away, but given wedding season is about to kick off I know I can only manage a short UK-based trip where I will be sure of wifi access. We’ve looked far and wide and in the end plumped for a coastal cool getaway exploring the South-West of the UK. Starting with a few days in our old-favourite Salcombe visiting friends, the two of us will then move on for a real luxurious treat to North Devon staying at Hotel Endsleigh, followed by Hotel Tresanton in Cornwall, finishing off in a home stay space in Cornwall for complete R&R.
I can’t wait to reveal more about our mini adventure, but for now I thought I’d share some of the other amazing destinations I’ve stumbled across in my search and that are definitely being added to my bucket list for trips later in the year.
The stay at home option: Limewood, New Forest, UK
Limewood is the perfect country getaway for total rest and relaxation. This is a bolthole with a difference with contemporary interiors in beautiful surroundings where you’ll experience the very best in luxurious service. For pure romance choose one of their forest lodges or even the forest hideaway suite, arranged on split levels these give you the most space, for a really rustic vibe try their forest cabin for chalet-chic style. The onsite herb-house spa offers holistic and Ayurvedic treatments and that outdoor steaming hot pool is just crying out for a dip. Rustic relief at it’s best.
The coastal boho hangout: San Giorgio, Mykonos
Whitewashed stone buildings overlooking the Aegean, lazing the day away swinging in a crocheted hammock whilst listening to the crash of the waves on the rocky shore, oh this one has my name all over it. San Giorgio in Mykonos, a member of Design Hotels, is perfect for beach babes who like their suntan served with a serious side order of style. They have 32 rooms including 2 suites, an open-kitchen restaurant that focuses on healthy, organic, local food and a bar where occasional parties are hosted. You really don’t need to leave but if you do fancy exploring the area there are plenty of beaches close by.
The totally lo-fi option: TreeHotel Sweden
Just you, him and a lot of tress. They don’t come much more off-plan than the eco-friendly TreeHotel. Comprising of six stylish tree house suites that are mind-boggling in their construction with scandi-cool interiors and impressive vistas. You can enjoy really being at one with nature here, trekking the forest pathways, taking a husky-drawn sled ride and the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights. The facilities are modern with an onsite restaurant and bar called Britta’s – once used for a Vogue shoot – you’ll also find a woodland sauna and open air hot tub. The rooms are quite snug so perfect for cosying up. This place screams cool!
The classic cool option: Capri Tiberio Palace
One of the world’s most beguiling hotspots, Capri has played host to many a stylish traveller. The Capri Tiberio Palace is a stunning example of effortless Italian glamour mixed with a pinch of eccentricity and the most discrete five-star service. With 46 rooms it’s slightly larger than a typical boutique but with plenty of little nooks and crannies all filled with pop-art curios to discover you can still be sure of an intimate getaway. With onsite bar, restaurant and spa the Palace offers a magical and sophisticated atmosphere.
